Touched by War by James Marlow

Eventide Theatre Company recently presented a virtual public reading of this year’s winning play, Touched by War – written by James Marlow, our 2020 Kaplan Playwright winner. This original full-length play was reviewed and selected by a panel of three Eventide judges – and was recognized as the winner of our annual playwriting competition on April 1st, 2020.

James Marlow is no stranger to the theater world, having written several short plays that have been produced around the country, as well as having another full-length play read at the Provincetown Theatre Company. He has also won several playwriting competitions and has self-published four novels.

The public reading, directed by Eventide Artistic Director Chris Edwards, took place in our virtual Zoom studio and was aired live on Saturday, May 2nd at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 3rd at 2:30 p.m. – and was performed by this incredible ensemble (pictured above) – top row: James Marlow (playwright), Robert Bock, Chris Edwards (director); middle row: Melinda Gallant, Patrick O’Rourke; bottom row: Tim Hystad, Jan Bradbury Richmond, Rebecca Riley.
